Where to Eat in Koh Tao: My 18 Absolute Favourites!

Where to eat when you are travelling around is a question we ask ourselves multiple times a day and where to eat in Koh Tao is one I asked myself over and over during the 3 weeks I spent there.

Koh Tao might be small but it does not have a shortage of choices, this tiny little island has some of the most varied food choices throughout and you really can find something here for everyone.

From aesthetic brunches to authentic Thai and veg-packed Buddha bowls, you will never become bored of what’s on offer and can easily eat your way around the island over and over.

Throughout this where to eat in Koh Tao guide, I will share with you, in no particular order, my 18 absolute favourite restaurants, what they offer and why I love them so much! Hopefully, you can find one if not many places to eat from this list during your stay in Koh Tao.

Where to Eat in Koh Tao – My 18 Top Choices

Infinity Thai Food

Infinity Thai Food serves up some of the most authentic and tastiest Thai food in Koh Tao, the restaurant is small but you never have to wait long for your table or your food which is a bonus when it comes to some of the authentic food on Koh Tao.

995 Duck

995 Duck is probably one of Koh Tao’s most well-known restaurants and this duck is famous on the island for good reason. Whilst there is not much on the menu here what they do serve they do extremely well with their roast duck dishes being the most popular. You can find a variety of roast duck dishes as well as Chinese noodles, ramen, pad thai and a variety of rice and noodle dishes.

Mama Tam

Another amazing authentic Thai restaurant, Mama Tam does not look like much from the outside but, in my opinion, this small family-run masterpiece serves one of the best pad thai’s and morning glory on the island.

Coconut Monkey

Coconut Monkey is an aesthetic beachfront cafe serving up healthy, homemade and delicious meals. They have a wide variety of dishes from Western classics to Thai-inspired choices and a large vegan selection They also have a fridge full of sweet treats, kombucha and more! As well as an extensive drinks menu serving everything from freshly made smoothies to matcha.


A super yummy choice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, Koppee is another restaurant serving up a great choice of either Western classics or Thai dishes. Koppee is a beautiful spot located right on the beach in Chalok Bay with a few different seating options as well as a pool you can use. I loved to spend the morning here writing with matcha and then treating myself to a club sandwich for lunch, personally, it’s the best on the island.

Living Juices

This incredibly cute little cafe is your go-to if you are looking for superfood-packed smoothie bowls, juices and salads. Everything here is vibrant, fresh and decorated beautifully, which is perfect for someone looking for something delicious and aesthetic. They also host a variety of Yoga classes in their studio above the cafe making it the perfect place to start your day with a Vinyasa flow and acai bowl.

Hippo Bar & Grill

If you are craving a big juicy burger to give you a break from all of the delicious Thai food available on Koh Tao then Hippo is the place to go. You have a massive choice of burgers, as well as some other favourites such as hot dogs, salads and chips!

Sairee Cottage

Sairee Cottage is the perfect option when you just can’t decide where to go or can’t agree on a cuisine, they have absolutely everything here from a wide variety of Thai dishes, Western dishes, breakfast choices, lunch options, dinner and desserts! It is located right on the beach with a wonderful relaxed vibe making it a great choice for a group or family option with something for everyone and access to the ocean right in front of you with amazing sunset views.

Cafe Culture

This is a small, cosy, modern cafe with a great variety of breakfast choices, lunch and dinner. Here you can find all of your classic Western favourites, including baguettes and some yummy butter croissants. There isn’t a huge amount of seating inside so make sure to arrive early if you want a good spot, especially with its beachfront location you can secure a seat on the edge overlooking the ocean.

The Factory Cafe

This tiny little cafe is always overflowing with customers and is a well-known spot for breakfast and coffee, the pancakes here are to die for as well as an amazing drink selection and tons of vegan options. Don’t forget to check out their freshly made cake selection too, the vegan banana bread is amazing. Just make sure to arrive early if you want breakfast as this little space gets filled up daily!

Bella Thai Food

This is another small family-run authentic Thai restaurant, here you can find fresh ingredients and a range of seriously tasty Thai dishes. Serving all of the best choices as well as some Western choices this is a great option for a budget dinner out with some much cheaper prices compared to some on the island, welcoming staff and amazing food.

Prana Cafe

Prana Cafe is located next to Blue Chitta the well-known freediving school and yoga studio on Koh Tao. They serve up delicious brunches, smoothies, lunch options, toasts, breakfasts and so much more. From nature to the plate, everything is made with care and dedication to serve you the freshest and tastiest dishes.

🙋🏻‍♀️ If you are a fellow yogi looking for an amazing place to stay while you are travelling in Koh Tao make sure to check out Blue Chitta’s hostel, located above Prana you can find mixed dorms here with super comfy beds, sunset views and a great chilled vibes for those looking to make friends without the partying.


Koh Tao’s only completely vegan/vegetarian restaurant. VegetaBowl uses some of the freshest ingredients to create large delicious and healthy bowls, salads, quesadillas and sushi rolls. The falafel here is also huge and super crunchy making it the perfect component to complement the crunchy and flavourful veggies. They also serve some amazing energy bowls and sweet treats!

Nui’s Bakery

A well-baked piece of bread is often hard to come by in Asia but at Nui’s Bakery they pride themselves on their baking and I can vouch for the fact that is it super crunchy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. If you are craving a sandwich or baguette or any making this is the place for you, with a large choice on their menu as well as a build-your-own option you are guaranteed to find something here to satisfy your taste buds.

The French Market

Another amazing option if you fancy a sandwich with freshly made baguettes served every day, but it’s not the sandwiches here that steal the show and get it a well-deserved place in my where to eat in Koh Tao guide, it is the huge variety of freshly baked pastries! There is everything you could wish for if you died and went to pastry heaven from pain au chocolats, cinnamon buns, banana bread, Danish’s and so much more! They also have a deli counter with French meats and cheeses as well as a large wine selection.

Barracuda Roof Top

Barracuda is a great option if you are going out for an occasion and fancy something a little bit different. This roof top seafood restaurant and bar offers amazing views over the island and ocean and serves up some incredibly tasty and quirkly dishes as well as your more traditional style mains and tapas options.

Thaita Italian

Thaita is a real authentic Italian restaurant with the owner’s wife doing most of the cooking herself, located just outside the main strip this beautiful little restaurant is a hidden oasis, it is like stepping into Italy itself. All of the dishes are freshly made and the atmosphere and vibe here is so welcoming and welcoming.

The Hacienda Bar & Grill

If you are missing a taste of home, for fellow English travellers, then make sure to check out Hacienda! They serve such a well-done and authentic roast dinner here as well as some other English classics such as pies, burgers and sausage and mash.

Cantina de Koh Tao

A great option for a different cuisine when you are deciding where to eat in Koh Tao to mix it up a bit, this Mexican serves up all of the favourites from tacos, burritos, and quesadillas to fajitas made with vibrant and fresh ingredients. They also have a great cocktail menu and margaritas to choose from. Cantina is also located just next to The Queens Cabaret which is by far one of the best things to do in Koh Tao!
